static X rings

Low Voltage Static X-Rings

Low voltage static X-rings are sealing components commonly used in sealing applications in low voltage environments. They are often used as static sealing elements, i.e. they provide a sealing effect without movement or pressure changes. It is made of a special elastic material and has an X-shaped cross-section. This design enables the X-ring to provide effective sealing performance to prevent liquid or gas leakage.

Dynamic sealing X ring

Dynamic sealing X-ring FKM Shore 76.5

Name:Dynamic seal X-ring

Materials: FKM Shore 76.5

FKM Shore 76.5 is a dynamic sealing X-ring used for sealing between moving parts. Its structural shape differs from O-rings, which have a circular cross-section. The X-shaped cross-section design of the X-ring forms four sealing lips when compressed, providing better sealing performance. It also has superior torsion resistance, resisting twisting and rolling during installation and use. The structure of an X-ring is similar to two O-rings stacked together to form a crossed X-shaped structure. The material selection of dynamic seal X-ring rubber seal depends on the working medium, such as nitrile rubber or fluorine rubber.

The AEM X-rings are a high-performance seal made of AEM rubber with excellent high temperature and chemical resistance and wide applicability. Can be used in static or dynamic applications.

Static sealing with rubber seals refers to sealing achieved using a rubber seal between two immovable components, where the rubber seal does not undergo significant deformation or movement. This sealing method is usually used for stationary or static applications, such as valves, pipe joints, flange connections, containers, and other static or low-speed moving sealing parts. Since there is no friction, the requirements for wear resistance are not high, but there are strict requirements on operating temperature, mechanical strength, and deformation rate.

Overview of main types

O-rings: O-rings are annular rubber seals with a circular cross-section. They are commonly used in static sealing applications such as mechanical seals, pipe connections, valves, pumps, and automotive engines. O-rings can provide good sealing performance and are suitable for a variety of working conditions.

Flat gaskets: Flat gaskets are flat-shaped seals commonly used in static sealing applications such as flange connections, piping systems, and containers. They are usually made of rubber or other flexible materials and can fill in imperfectly flat surfaces to create a reliable seal.

X-rings: X-rings, also known as four-lip seals, have a cross-sectional shape. They provide better sealing performance than O-rings and can withstand higher pressures and greater deformations. X-rings are commonly used to seal hydraulic systems, pneumatic equipment, and rotating shaft seals.

Square rings: Square rings have a square or rectangular cross-sectional shape and are commonly used in static sealing applications such as valves, joints, and pipe connections. They provide a large sealing contact area and can provide good sealing performance in high-pressure and high-temperature environments.

V-rings: V-rings are rubber seals with a V-shaped cross-section that can be used for static seals and rotating shaft seals. They are suitable for sealing liquids, oils, and dust and are commonly used in automobiles, mechanical equipment, and hydraulic systems.

Material

Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR): Nitrile Butadiene Rubber is a general-purpose rubber material that has good oil and abrasion resistance and is suitable for static sealing applications of liquids and gases. It is commonly used to seal automobile engines, hydraulic systems, pipe connections, etc.

Fluorine rubber (FKM/Viton): Fluorine rubber has excellent high-temperature resistance and chemical resistance, and can provide excellent sealing performance under extreme environmental conditions. It is often used in static sealing applications that require high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, such as chemical equipment, the petroleum industry, aerospace, etc.

Ethylene-propylene rubber (EPDM): Ethylene-propylene rubber has excellent weather resistance, aging resistance, and acid, and alkali resistance, and is suitable for static sealing applications in outdoor environments and some special chemical media. It is commonly used in piping systems, cooling systems, etc.

Silicone: Silicone rubber has a wide operating temperature range and excellent high-temperature resistance, and can maintain elasticity and sealing performance under extreme temperature conditions. It is commonly used in high-temperature sealing applications such as hot water systems, engine components, stoves, etc.

Neoprene (CR): Neoprene has good oil and corrosion resistance and is suitable for static sealing applications of liquids and gases. It is commonly used in automobile manufacturing, shipbuilding industry, chemical equipment, etc.

Characteristics of static sealing

Static sealing refers to the sealing achieved by rubber sealing elements without relative movement between two or more parts. The following are some characteristics of static seals:

High sealing performance: Static sealing usually requires a high degree of sealing performance, which can effectively prevent the leakage of media and the entry of external impurities.

Stability: Static sealing generally does not involve relative movement of parts, so the sealing elements are relatively stable in the static sealing state and will not cause wear and fatigue due to movement.

Lower friction and wear: Since there is no relative movement, the contact surface between the sealing element of the static seal and the parts has no friction, so friction and wear are relatively low, and the service life of the sealing element is longer.

Suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature environments: Static seals can usually adapt to higher pressures and temperatures, and some sealing elements of special materials can even be used under extremely high-pressure and high-temperature conditions.

Relatively simple design and manufacturing: Compared with dynamic seals, the design and manufacturing of static seals are relatively simple. Usually, only the cooperation of the contact surface between the sealing element and the part and the selection of materials need to be considered.

Not suitable for dynamic applications: Static sealing is only suitable for situations where there is no relative movement. If there is relative movement or vibration of parts, static sealing usually cannot meet the requirements, and dynamic sealing is required.
