About FKM X-Rings

FKM X-ring is a sealing ring with specific structure and function. Structurally, it features a sealing surface that is twice the size of a standard O-ring, thus requiring less radial extrusion to maintain effective sealing function. Functionally, FKM X-rings can be used in a variety of static and dynamic sealing applications.

Advantages

1. Strong sealing performance: The sealing surface of FKM X-rings are twice that of standard O-ring, so less radial extrusion is required to maintain effective sealing function.

2. High temperature resistance and chemical corrosion resistance: The X-ring is made of fluorine rubber (FKM), an advanced synthetic rubber material, which has excellent chemical stability, wear resistance and high temperature resistance.

3. Wide range of applications: FKM rubber X-rings are widely used in various static and dynamic sealing applications, such as hydraulic systems, chemical reactors and other high-temperature, high-pressure, and high-corrosion environments.

4. Reduce leakage: The design of the rubber X-ring enables it to maintain a stable sealing effect in various complex sealing environments, reducing the possibility of oil leakage.

5. Small radial compression: The design of the FKM X-type ring requires only a small radial compression during the sealing process to achieve a good sealing effect. This not only improves work efficiency, but also extends the service life of the sealing ring. .

6. High cost performance: Compared with traditional O-rings, FKM X-rings have higher sealing performance and longer service life, so they have higher cost performance.

Sealing principle

During the sealing process, the FKM X-rings will first be pre-compressed during initial installation, resulting in radial or axial contact stress superimposed on the system pressure to achieve the sealing function. The superimposed sealing force increases as the system pressure increases. Under pressure, the X-ring acts like a fluid with high surface tension and can evenly transmit the pressure to all sides.

At the same time, the FKM X-rings are a double-acting seal with elastic sealing capabilities. It can provide effective sealing whether used as a piston seal or a piston rod seal. This sealing method is based on the elasticity and surface tension of the X-shaped ring and can be adapted to various complex environments and working conditions.

Application Areas

1. Chemical processes and petroleum refining: This sealing product is used in mechanical seals, pumps, reactors, agitators, compressor casings, valves, various instruments and other equipment.

2. Automobile industry: FKM X-rings are widely used for sealing components such as automobile engines, transmission systems, fuel systems, and emission systems. Due to its excellent high temperature resistance, it can provide reliable sealing in high temperature and high pressure environments to ensure the normal operation of engines and other systems.

3. Oil and natural gas industry: X-rings play an important role in the extraction, transportation and processing of oil and natural gas. The use of FKM X-rings in equipment such as oil wells, pipelines and valves can effectively prevent leaks and ensure the reliability and safety of the system.

4. Pharmaceutical and food industry: FKM X-rings are widely used in pharmaceutical and food processing equipment. Because it complies with hygienic standards, is non-toxic, tasteless and has excellent high temperature resistance, it can ensure the hygiene of the production process and the quality of the product.

Classification

Types of FKM X-rings are mainly distinguished based on their cross-sectional shape and structural design. Here are a few common FKM X-ring types:

1. Standard X-shaped ring: Its cross-sectional shape shows an “X” shape, formed by two intersecting arcs. This design provides good sealing performance and is suitable for a wide range of sealing applications.

2. Diamond X-shaped ring: The cross-sectional shape of the diamond-shaped X-shaped ring shows a diamond shape instead of the traditional “X” shape. This design allows the sealing ring to generate greater contact force when compressed, improving sealing performance.

3. V-shaped X-shaped ring: The cross-sectional shape of the V-shaped X-shaped ring shows a “V” shape, formed by the intersection of two inclined planes. This design produces greater compression force during sealing and is suitable for some special sealing applications.

4. Double X-shaped ring: Double X-shaped ring has two overlapping “X” shaped sections. This design increases the sealing performance and stability of the sealing ring and is suitable for high pressure or harsh sealing conditions.
