About HNBR Rod Seals

HNBR Rod Seals are designed to provide an effective seal between the piston rod and seal groove of a hydraulic system, preventing leakage of liquid or gas to the outside of the system and preventing impurities from entering the system. As a moving part of the hydraulic cylinder, the piston rod will produce reciprocating motion during work, so a reliable sealing device is required to maintain sealing performance.

HNBR Rod Seals

Structural Characteristics

■ U-shaped structure: HNBR Rod Seals usually adopt U-shaped structure, also known as U-shaped sealing ring. This structure allows the sealing ring to wrap around the piston rod to form a seal, while also providing elasticity and sealing performance during reciprocating motion.

■Double-lip design: HNBR Rod Seals’ U-shaped seals usually have a double-lip design. This means there are lips on the inside and outside of the seal, which come into contact with the piston rod and seal groove respectively. The double-lip design increases the sealing effect and provides more reliable sealing performance.

■ Elastic support: HNBR Rod Sealing rings usually have an internal elastic support structure. This can be a metal or plastic support ring that enhances the stability and elasticity of the seal. The elastic support structure helps maintain the shape and sealing force of the seal, especially under high pressure and high temperature conditions.

■ Lubrication holes or grooves: In order to reduce friction and wear, the sealing lip of HNBR Rod Seal is usually equipped with lubrication holes or grooves. These structures provide entry and distribution of lubricant as the piston rod moves, reducing friction and extending seal life.

■ Wear-resistant materials: HNBR Rod Seal is usually made of wear-resistant materials to resist friction and wear between the piston rod and the sealing ring. These materials maintain sealing performance during reciprocating motion and have a long service life.

The structural features of HNBR Rod Seals make it suitable for piston rod sealing in various hydraulic systems, providing reliable sealing effect and durability. These features help prevent leaks, reduce friction losses, and ensure proper operation of the hydraulic system.

Application Areas

1. Hydraulic cylinder: HNBR Rod Seals are suitable for sealing the piston rod of the hydraulic cylinder to ensure the normal operation of the hydraulic cylinder. Hydraulic cylinders are widely used in construction machinery, metallurgical equipment, machine tools, lifting equipment and other fields.

2. Hydraulic motor: A hydraulic motor converts hydraulic energy into mechanical energy. HNBR Rod Seals can be used to seal the piston rod of the hydraulic motor to ensure efficient operation of the motor. Hydraulic motors are commonly found in industrial automation and mechanical transmission systems.

3. Hydraulic pump: Hydraulic pump is used to provide the pressure and flow required by the hydraulic system. HNBR Rod Sealing rings can be used to seal the piston rod of hydraulic pumps to prevent leakage and loss and ensure the stable operation of the pump.

4. Industrial machinery and equipment: HNBR Rod Seal is also suitable for various industrial machinery and equipment, such as presses, injection molding machines, excavators, cranes, etc. These equipment often require hydraulic systems to provide power and control, and Rod Seals can ensure the normal operation of the system.

5. Automotive industry: HNBR Rod Seals are also widely used in automotive hydraulic systems. For example, hydraulic braking systems, suspension systems, and steering systems all require sealing rings to ensure system performance and safety.

What are the advantages of HNBR material compared with other sealing materials

■ Oil resistance: HNBR material has excellent oil resistance and can withstand various hydraulic oils and lubricants in hydraulic systems without corrosion or expansion due to contact with liquids. In comparison, other sealing materials may have lower resistance to certain liquids.

■ Wear resistance: HNBR material has good wear resistance and can resist friction and wear during reciprocating motion between the piston rod and the sealing groove. This gives HNBR Rod Seals longer life and better performance in high friction applications.

■ High temperature resistance: HNBR materials can still maintain the stability of their physical and chemical properties under high temperature conditions. In contrast, other sealing materials may harden, become brittle, or lose their sealing properties in high-temperature environments.

■ Chemical resistance: HNBR material has good resistance to many chemicals and can maintain its sealing performance in various chemical environments encountered in hydraulic systems. This makes HNBR Rod Seals widely adaptable and durable in hydraulic systems.

■ Antioxidation: HNBR material has high antioxidant properties and can resist the erosion of oxygen and ozone. This makes HNBR Rod Seal excellent in applications with long-term use and exposure to atmospheric environments.
