About V-Ring Seals

V-Ring Seals are solid rubber seals used on shafts that prevent dust, moisture and other unwanted substances from entering the oil seal, housing or any other desired area while retaining lubricant. It works by stretching over the shaft to create a tight seal along the shaft, while the flexible lip gently seals the mating surface at right angles to the shaft.

Introduction

The so-called V-Ring Seals have a V-shaped cross section and are also a type of lip seal. Its device consists of three parts: a support ring, a sealing ring, and a pressure ring. The standard included angle of the V-shaped sealing ring is 90°, and 60° is also used in special occasions. The materials of sealing rings are commonly used nitrile rubber and neoprene, which can be used in food-grade sealing ring standards.

V-Ring Seals can generally be stretched and installed directly on the shaft, and are fixed by the inherent tension of the rubber body. It rotates with the shaft and presses the contact surface of the shaft in the vertical direction of the shaft to act as a static seal. The friction surface of the dynamic seal can be the side wall of the bearing, or a gasket, stamping part, bearing seat, or even the metal of the oil seal. The sealing lip is flexible and exerts only relatively small contact pressure on the friction surface, but is sufficient to maintain the sealing function. Because the contact pressure is low, this allows the seal to run dry in many applications.

1. Sealing performance can be improved by overlapping multiple sealing rings, but it should be noted that increasing the number of overlaps is not a linear relationship and will also increase friction resistance.

3. During use, if the sealing ring is deformed or worn and causes leakage, it can be adjusted and compacted again through its compression mechanism, thereby achieving long-term use, reliable sealing and long life.

5. Suitable for low speed and low pressure rotation.

6. No anti-extrusion measures are required under high pressure.

7. It has the characteristics of large friction resistance, difficulty in adjustment and high installation space requirements.
