About Viton X-Rings

The four-petal design of Viton X-rings provides dual sealing surfaces compared to standard O-rings. This double sealing action requires a smaller squeeze to maintain an effective seal. The reduction in extrusion in turn reduces friction and increases seal life.

Sealing principle

The sealing principle of Viton X-rings is mainly based on its excellent elasticity and compressibility. In the sealing system, the X-ring is installed in the high-pressure fluid medium. Due to its good elasticity and compressibility, it can closely fit on the sealing surface, thus effectively preventing leakage and penetration of the fluid medium.

Specifically, Viton X-rings deform under pressure and their shape changes with pressure while maintaining a tight fit against the sealing surface. This sealing method is called “form seal” or “compression seal”, which can effectively prevent leakage and penetration of fluid media.

Features

1. Good high temperature resistance: Viton X-rings can maintain good elasticity and stability at high temperatures and are suitable for sealing in high temperature environments.

2. Strong chemical corrosion resistance: Rubber X-rings have good resistance to most chemicals and solvents and can prevent chemical corrosion.

3. Good anti-aging properties: Rubber X-rings have good anti-aging properties and can maintain excellent performance in long-term use.

4. Small compression permanent deformation: The fluororubber X-shaped ring has a strong ability to return to its original shape after compression and can maintain good sealing performance.

5. Good mechanical properties: X-shaped rings have excellent mechanical strength and wear resistance, and can maintain a stable sealing effect in various mechanical movements.

Application

Viton X-rings are widely used in many fields, including:

1. Chemical processes and petroleum refining: This sealing product is used in mechanical seals, pumps, reactors, agitators, compressor casings, valves, various instruments and other equipment. Usually used as packing for valve seats, valve stems, diaphragms and gaskets.

2. Aerospace: Viton X-rings can be used for the sealing of aircraft hydraulic and pneumatic systems, as well as the sealing of aircraft such as rockets and missiles.

3. Automobile manufacturing: Rubber X-rings can be used for sealing automobile engines and hydraulic systems to ensure the safety and stability of automobiles.

4. Electronics and semiconductor manufacturing: X-rings can be used for sealing high-precision mechanical components, such as vacuum pumps, valves, pipelines, etc., as well as for sealing equipment such as clean rooms and ultra-clean workbenches in semiconductor manufacturing.

5. Food and pharmaceutical manufacturing: Due to its excellent corrosion resistance and hygienic performance, Viton X-rings can be used for sealing in food and pharmaceutical manufacturing, such as pipelines, valves, storage tanks, etc.

6. Other fields: Rubber X-rings can also be used in petrochemical, chemical fiber textile, hydraulic and pneumatic and other fields.

Classification

1. According to different manufacturing materials, Viton X-rings can be divided into pure fluororubber and mixed fluororubber. Pure fluororubber refers to a sealing ring made entirely of fluororubber material, which has better corrosion resistance and higher temperature resistance. Mixed fluororubber is a sealing ring made of fluororubber and other materials, and its performance and service life are also reduced accordingly.

2. According to different use environments, it can be divided into high temperature resistant type, corrosion resistant type, oil resistant type and chemical resistant type. These different types of fluororubber X-rings have different chemical structures and properties and can adapt to different working environments and media conditions.

3. According to different production processes, rubber X-rings can be divided into molded types and calendered types. Molding type is to put the mixed rubber into the mold, press it into shape under high temperature and high pressure, and then vulcanize and cool it. The calendering type is to press the mixed rubber into a certain shape of film through a calender, and then cut and vulcanize it. Both production processes can produce fluororubber X-rings with excellent properties.

Design Structure

1. Cross-sectional shape: The cross-sectional shape of Viton X-rings is X-shaped. The design of this shape allows it to better fit the sealing surface under the action of fluid pressure, thereby achieving a better sealing effect.

2. Material: Rubber X-rings usually use fluororubber as the main material. This material has excellent high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, oil resistance and chemical resistance, and can meet the sealing needs in various harsh environments.

3. Installation slot: The X-type ring needs to be installed in the corresponding installation slot. The design of the installation slot needs to match the size of the X-type ring. At the same time, the convenience of installation and disassembly needs to be considered.

4. Wear-resistant layer: The surface of Viton X-rings is usually coated with a layer of wear-resistant material to increase its wear resistance and service life. This layer of wear-resistant material can be metal, non-metal or other polymer materials.
